Game Testing and its Importance
Mobile game testing differs from regular mobile app testing. Effective mobile game testing derives from a well-structured and systematic approach, the use of a test automation framework and seamless integration with your agile process. Naturally, the simplistic view of testing is to identify bugs and help developers to remove them. However, to aim for efficient, result-driven testing it is mandatory to have test automation as a part of the overall development process.
Game testing borrows a lot of concepts from conventional software testing, but with a few customisations. Compared to conventional software there is a bigger focus on the intangible ‘fun’ aspect. There are also different player demographics and educational aspects to take into account.
Following Testing, practices are relevant to game testing
1. Installation Testing: Verify that game will install, load and run on different platform configurations that mainstream users support.
2. Feature Testing: These test cases are suitable to cover obvious features and task-based test cases – are at a higher level of detail.
3. User Interface(UI Testing): The main focus of UI testing is both the graphical elements and content types and then Make a list of desired checks and then work through this list.
4. Performance Testing: Identify the common tasks a player is likely to perform. Run the game for a continuous 24 hours and Increasingly add more players for multiplayer performance testing to check its performance.
Every year thousands of video games are released in the market and most of them fail due to stiff competition. In order to be successful in such a market, organizations need to focus not only on the development process but also on the testing process. Game testing is the process focused on testing the game and finding bugs in it.
