Landing a software testing job without experience seems like a hard nut to crack. Nevertheless, most people fail to realize that they already have some testing experience using daily apps.

Yes, I’m sure you’ve encountered some errors in the products you use. That’s the basics of testing, finding errors on products, and reporting them. In this blog post, I’ll share 5 tips for landing your software testing jobLet’s get to it

1.   Be Passionate About Testing: Know the basic idea of Software Testing & Quality Assurance and develop an interest in it. You will be able to survive in your Software Testing job only when you have a real interest and passion for it. Else, you will start finding testing as a burden and finally end up losing your performance and efficiency.

2.   Choose Your Niche: A specialist is always preferred over a generalist by most companies. Some of the most popular testing niches you can choose from are:

·        Manual Testing: Manual testing is a software testing process in which test cases are executed manually without using any automated tool. All test cases are executed by the tester manually according to the end user's perspective. It ensures whether the application is working, as mentioned in the requirement document or not. Test cases are planned and implemented to complete almost 100 per cent of the software application. Test case reports are also generated manually.

·        Automation Testing: Automation testing is the process of testing software and other tech products to ensure it meets strict requirements. Essentially, it's a test to double-check that the equipment or software does exactly what it was designed to do. It tests for bugs, defects, and any other issues that can arise with product development.

·        Performance Testing: Performance testing is the practice of evaluating how a system performs in terms of responsiveness and stability under a particular workload. Performance tests are typically executed to examine speed, robustness, reliability, and application size.

3.   Right Skill Set Required for the Job: Nowadays most of job openings require you to have some certifications in testing. This has been made mandatory by most of the companies so that the candidate can be productive from day 1 of his joining and no amount of time or money needs to be spent on training the candidate over the basic software testing concepts.

So, it’s a feather in the cap if you hold certain certifications before applying for a Software Testing job.

4.   Write A Perfect Resume: Make sure that whatever you have written in your resume reflects your personality and skills. Do not include fake experiences in the resume because when the interviewer will ask questions about it, you will just get blank at that moment and this will throw a negative impact on the interview panel. Be True and speak the truth about your relevant experience.

5.   Apply to start-up companies as a fresher to get maximum experience: It’s easier to make entry into startups or small companies than an IT MNC. Small companies are more flexible in evaluating candidature. Startups tend to take a risk of hiring a fresher more often when compared to big companies. ( Read more)
